Ginger bug

Ginger bug

To make rose soda, I need a culture starter. What did I use? - Ginger bug. It is very easy to make.

We need only;

2 tsp of freshly grated ginger per day

2 tsp of unrefined sugar per day (in liquid form such as, date syrup, maple syrup, evaporated cane juice) I used date syrup , which blends perfectly with the taste of ginger

1 cup of filtered water

Instructions:

DAY 1

Put the filtered water in a pint glass jar

Add 2 tsp grated ginger

Add 2 tsp unrefined sugar

Shake to mix or stir with a wooden spoon

Place it in a warm place of the kitchen

Cover with a lid

Each day add another 2 tsp of grated ginger and 2 tsp of unrefined sugar…

After 2 to a few days, check for bubbles rising to the top of the jar, (for me it usually happens in 2 days)  and its ready to use! To keep the ginger bug alive, you can also put it in the fridge (feed it with 1 tsp of grated ginger and 1 tsp of sugar once a week) it needs to be fed daily with 1 tsp of grated ginger and 1 tsp of sugar in room temperature to reactivate it.
