Microgreens are about 1-3 inches tall. They are the young seedlings of edible herbs and vegetables; usually harvested in about 14 days after germination. According to the researcher Qin Wang, PhD, assistant professor at the University of Maryland in College Park, the microgreens were found to have 4- 40-fold more concentrated nutrients than their mature counterparts. Most of them are high in vitamin K, C, E, lutein and beta-carotene.

What you will need to grow microgreens at home:

A container, I use a glass container here, as it is transparent for me to check the moisture level.
You can use any containers, like to reuse the plastic packagings of your berries.

Growing medium: I use coco coir brick; they are actually ground-up coconut husks.
Hemp mats are very easier to handle. What you need to do is place the hemp mats at the bottom of the container and add water to rehydrate before adding seeds on top.

Seeds: I bought them in bulk from Johnny's seeds; you can easily find them selling in grocery stores or nearby nurseries.

Instructions:

Place coco coir brick* in a container
*please note that you can also use hemp mats, cover the bottom of the container with hemp mats, add water to rehydrate the hemp mats

Slowly add water to rehydrate the cooc coir

Break the coco coir brick into pieces

Add seeds when the coco coir is completely broken up and rehydrated

Spray more water after adding the seeds

Leave them by the window for about 1-2 weeks, water them when necessary.
